“The Lord will make much more out of your life than you can by yourself.”
From For the Strength of Youth.
I wanted to be a writer. Ever since I was in elementary school, I thought that it was I wanted to do. I was very determined and kept at it. I majored in English in college and went to writing workshops and wrote and wrote and wrote. I thought that was what my life should be.
If I would have kept at it, perhaps I would have gotten some success. But instead, I let the Lord in my life, and I let Him guide me. I was slowly guided away from writing. I was guided away from trying to publish those novels that I thought were so important.
The Lord wanted something better for me. He wanted me to do small things–small, but of everlasting importance. And He keeps guiding me in small ways, making me into a better person.
I used to be shy and afraid, and He helped me to conquer fears. I used to focus on to-do lists and programs and ignore people, and He helped me to love more. He has built up into a person that I could not be by myself.
